Naturalist Classes and Young Naturalist Programs

Naturalist Classes and Young Naturalist Programs include animal and plant ID hikes, hikes, kayaking, fishing, and other outdoor sports and skills. Participants also take part in nature crafts, arts and crafts, games, and stories.

• Ages: 3–18 years old
• Schedule: Summer Naturalist classes meet weekly in June, July, and August, the Wisconsin Master Naturalist Training Course meets one Saturday a month from March through August, and the Fall Preschool Young Naturalist Class meets weekly during fall, winter, and spring

Since 1990, the Friends of Willow River and Kinnickinnic State Parks has served as a dedicated nonprofit. Its mission is to enhance the parks’ natural environment and engage visitors through recreation, education, and conservation. St. Croix County, Carpenter Nature Center, and The Friends of Willow River & Kinnickinnic State Parks partner to offer the Wisconsin Master Naturalist training, and the Friends group works hand-in-hand with the DNR. The Friends group is headquartered at the Nature Center in Willow River State Park.
