The Dancing House describes itself as a small, relationship-focused dance studio with intentionally small class sizes and a waiting room with toys for siblings to play while they wait. The studio states that it is “Small by Design. Powerful by Impact,” and that it is a relationship-focused dance studio where every student is seen, supported, and encouraged to grow, with flexible entry points and progression-based programs that allow dancers to start small and grow without needing to switch studios. The mission of The Dancing House is “Helping students of all ages & abilities develop into kind confident and life ready humans through the art of dance.”

The competition program is under the leadership of Ms. Sophi Johnson and begins around age 8, and is described as being an educational experience first and a competitive experience second, with competition being completely optional and the program intentionally small to create a close-knit group of parents, dancers, and teachers. The INnovate Dance Event is described as making dancers feel INspired, INvigorated, INvolved, and INcluded, and provides outside learning opportunities, adjudication feedback, industry insights, and service projects, as well as connections with fellow dancers in the Twin Cities metro area. The Dancing House opened its “Big Studio Doors” in January 2020, launched The Dancing House Performance Company by 2022, and states that “Our 18th Season is Open for Registration!”

Parent and adult client testimonials describe positive experiences with The Dancing House, including appreciation for back-to-back classes for siblings, the waiting room with toys, looking forward to enrolling in future sessions, and enjoying yoga and tap classes multiple times per week.
