Many precollege programs offer scholarships and other forms of financial assistance, and some programs enroll potential first-generation college students and provide a path to UW–Madison undergraduate enrollment. International students are welcomed and encouraged to apply for high school programs. UW–Madison precollege programs follow specific youth protection policies, laws, licensing requirements, and best practices to ensure safety of minors. A Badger Summer Scholars student stated that, because there were no credits involved, they could focus on learning rather than a specific grade and found enjoyment in simply learning rather than in getting a good grade.
