About
Urban Ecology Center Youth Programs and Summer Camp includes activities where kids paddle, hike, climb, build, create, and learn. Participants may climb the rock-wall in Riverside Park, go canoeing in the lagoon in Washington Park, and go snowshoeing in Three Bridges Park (Menomonee Valley).
• Ages: 3–17 years old
The Urban Ecology Center’s mission is to get people outside and to connect people in cities to nature and to each other. The UEC’s staff is described as a creative mix of educational backgrounds and work experience. Community volunteers and staff remove invasive species and restore urban ecosystems, and the cornerstone program, the Neighborhood Environmental Education Project (NEEP), serves kids in 60 urban Milwaukee schools each year. The school program is complemented by after-school programs, summer camps, weekend activities, Urban Adventures weekend youth and family programs, a High School Outdoor Leader program, adult summer internships, Community Science research projects, and volunteer activities.
