Urban Ecology Center Youth Programs and Summer Camps

Urban Ecology Center Youth Programs and Summer Camps include activities where kids paddle and canoe on lagoons and rivers, hike, climb, build, create, and learn. Participants may go snowshoeing, climb a rock wall, and take part in removing invasive species and restoring urban ecosystems. The programs also include volunteering and Community Science research projects.

• Ages: 3–18 years old

The Urban Ecology Center offers year-round educational programs for kids, families, and adults of all ages. Its after-school programs, summer camps, and weekend activities are designed to involve, inspire, educate, and connect kids to each other, to caring mentors, and to the natural world. The organization also runs the Neighborhood Environmental Education Project (NEEP), which serves kids in 60 urban Milwaukee schools each year, along with a High School Outdoor Leader program and adult summer internships. The Urban Ecology Center’s staff is described as a creative mix of educational backgrounds and work experience. Community volunteers and staff work together to remove invasive species and restore urban ecosystems. The mission of the Urban Ecology Center is to get people outside and connect people in cities to nature and each other.
