About

Youth & Family Programs take place within the Eskenazi Museum of Art’s educational spaces and galleries, using original works of art from the museum’s collection. The program is part of the Eskenazi Museum of Art at Indiana University, which has acquired over 47,000 works of art since its founding in 1941. The building that houses the program is described as a work of art itself, with a triangular shape and concrete-and-glass materials designed by architect I. M. Pei.

The Eskenazi Museum of Art at Indiana University states that it is a resource for research and learning with original works of art and that it engages diverse audiences throughout Indiana while creating a welcoming environment for all. The museum is among the first university teaching museums and received the first U.S. endowment to support university-level teaching at a museum. The education department is led by the Patricia and Joel Meier Chair of Education, Jean Graves. The museum is the first university museum in the country with an art therapist on staff. The museum engages with the broader community through space rentals for events that align with the mission of the Eskenazi Museum and the Indiana University community and partners with the IU Auditorium for event booking, planning, and management services.
