About
The GOswim Swimming and Water Safety Program includes swimming lessons through both the GOswim Swimming and Water Safety Program and the GOswim Academy. At the same centre, families can also access school competitions, fitness swimming, aquatic sports, group fitness classes, Aqua aerobics, and Reformer Pilates.
• Ages: 0–18 years old
• Schedule: Program runs for 48 weeks.
• Price: Weekly lessons start at $16.30.
The program is developed in partnership with Swimming Australia and focuses on five key learning areas: safe entries and exits; balance, movement and recovery; breath control, submersion and readiness; water safety; and swimming stroke development. Students can join a small group class or request private one-on-one lessons, and lessons can be modified and adapted, including one-on-one lessons or extra time. Students can progress at any time and are awarded a medal upon level progression. The program is inclusive and welcomes students of all abilities and ages.
Membership includes weekly lessons with easy and affordable payments, a GOswim Welcome Bag to store swim gear, unlimited student aquatic access outside of lessons, 4 weeks of unlimited family swim access over summer, and a 1-week Summer Holiday Swimming Program. Membership also includes access to the Active World app to manage membership. Through the app, families can view upcoming classes, book new classes, advise of student absence and book a make-up lesson, track learning pathways, skill achievement and progression, receive digital awards, send and receive messages to centre staff, and manage personal and billing details.
GOswim Academy bridges the gap between learning swimming foundations and joining recreational or competitive squads. Teen swimmers can join TeenStart, TeenSkill, or TeenActive streams, and adults can join AdultStart, AdultSkill, or AdultActive streams. The program is part of a centre that offers the largest Swimming and Water Safety program in the area helping kids learn to swim all year round, with five swimming pools, a large gym facility with weights, machines and cardio equipment, and over 60 group fitness classes per week.
Portland Leisure and Aquatic Centre aims to provide an enjoyable experience for the whole community, both members or guests, to participate and use any of its services, programs and activities. The centre is managed by Belgravia Leisure on behalf of Glenelg Shire Council. Belgravia Leisure respectfully acknowledge and recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as Traditional Custodians of Country and pays respect to their cultures and Elders past and present, and proudly welcome, support and include all people into the facilities, programs, services and employment it offers to communities across Australia and New Zealand.
