Instinct Defense Academy

Instinct Defense Academy offers martial arts, self-defense, and functional fitness training. The program includes kids martial arts classes, adult martial arts classes for all levels, Karate classes for adult beginners, a Black Belt Master Class exclusively for black belts, women’s self-defense through the Empower Her course, and private classes. Training includes the study of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu and Ninjutsu, with a focus on practical, reality-based self-defense and functional fitness training, and has no sport application due to the effectiveness of the techniques and how they are applied.

• Schedule: Working hours are 24-hour (Monday–Sunday)

Instinct Defense Academy has been teaching martial arts in the greater Portland area since 1991. Training is led by 15th Dan Shihan Peter Kramer and is dedicated to the practice of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu as upheld by Hatsumi Sensei and his top instructors. The program offers four different courses and recently changed its name from “Bujinkan Family Dojo” to “Instinct Defense Academy.” The stated goal of the program is: “OUR GOAL IS TO NOT ONLY TEACH YOU HOW TO FIGHT, BUT HOW TO LIVE.”
